Umbrella

I'm Not even Going to Call This "The 5th Opera Attempt".

I overslept.

I cannot believe it. I overslept. I overslept!

Four weeks into the Dymaxion sleep cycle, and although I haven't got it quite perfected yet, I do sleep and wake up from my four naps a day with ease, am able to function completely normally during the day and well during the night (although, the 2am - 8am stretch is still a bit tricky). The only thing I have left to iron out is my habit of dropping asleep unexpectedly for a few extra hours every couple of days... Like this morning.

Sitting on my bed at 9am, I was just thinking to myself, "Right, I have one hour before I need to leave to go queue for Carman, so shall I spend the time reading a chapter of Financial markets or a chapter of-" *Zonk* That is the last concious thought/memory I have before waking up again to find it 12:50 and a million-zillion missed calls on my mobile from people wondering where the hell I was (especially when I'd been so adamant "Be there at 11am - for God's sake do not be late!") ARGH!!

...

So, despite my best efforts, no Carmen for me. Ah, well. No level of disappointment could compare with Sunday's, so... let's move on. The Opera House isn't going anywhere, so without a doubt I'll get there one of thses days (I just really wanted to see Carmen... *sniff*)

Once more London is Calling... )

I Think I Lost the Drinking Game.

What's a sure sign that you've had too much to drink?  When you wake up in hospital with absoloutly no idea how you got there, a nurse trying to give you pamphlets on drug abuse and a doctor asking you:  "Do you know who you are?"

That is the time to put the bottle down.  Albeit, you won't know where the bottle is anyway due to your mind being a complete blank on what you've been doing for the past six hours.

...

From now on, I'm going to spend all my weekends alone in my room with a book, a glass of water and a crust of bread.

My Novel is A Blank Page

I can walk again!  Wohoo!  Not very far and in a rather pained fashion, but still, I am mobile!

To celebrate this fact, I have created a new vid called "My Novel is A Blank Page", which you can watch here:  http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WFgvvzyQrF4

Anyone who has ever written any sort of fiction ever will be entertained and amused by this.  I am rather irked that You Tube cut the very last two seconds of film off as it ended with a great paino roll, which pretty much made the whole thing.  Damn the You Tube uploaded!  Give it up for my little sister who was a real trooper in learning my crazy lines and lists.  Bless her melodramatic acting style :P

In other news, my Dad has come back from Israel/Turkey bearing gifts of both Turkish turkish delieght and Israli turkish delight.   Yay!

Buying Drinks in Bulk (as All Good Business Students Should) Saves Cash, but not Soberority

I've finished my very last day of school EVER.

After the leavers assembly, practically the whole year (plus teachers!) went to the pub to get pissed.  And believe me - mission accomplished!  Yes, embaressing photos will be appearing of me on Facebook very shortly (not that there aren't enough of those already!).

It really hasn't sunk in yet that I have finally finished my 13 years of schooling and that I am never going back there (except for my summer exams).

Life goes on.

Let's Hope I kick Logic Ass!

Dylan Moran (star of adjasent icon, not to mention the awesome comedy "Black Books" and "Sean of the Dead") is touring the UK with his stand up act and me and my sister (rabid fans of his) are booking tickets to go see him in November!  Woot!

In another news, the weekend in Italy has transformed into a day in Italy cos there are, literally, no rooms left in Milan on April the 17th.  So plan B is having to come into force:  Wake up at 3:00am to dirve to London with Mum and Dad (who is flying back from Israel to come with me to Bocconi), catch flight to Italy, catch bus to Milan, eat ice cream and pizza, test, bus, flight, drive back from London to be home again by midnight.  It is going to be... insane.

I just hope that I'm not gonna be so spaced out from tierdness that I can't focus on the questions...

On the ICT coursework front - I've now finished a first draft of the specification, implementation and the testing.  That's 2 out of 3 of the huge sections on the coursework done.  Just the design (huge), user guide (petite) and evaluation (grande petite) to go.  I'm hoping to get the design finished by today - tomorrow at the latest.  I just wished I could have done more on the coursework over last term with the January exams out the way...

Apparently, Limb Loss is a Good Omen when it comes to Taking your Theory Test

I passed my driving theory test! XD  I got 49/50 on the multiple choice and 54/75 on the hazard perception, so I was dead chuffed.

On an unrelated note, last night I had a really weird dream.  My brother fell down the stairs and managed to (somehow) slice off both his legs (blood and gore everywhere) and I had to cauterise the wounds.  It sounds horrific, but the whole mood of the thing was strangely whimsical - I was weilding that red hot poker with a smile :P

Then the dream moved on and I, for some reason, had two wooden legs and was having a driving lesson.

...

All I remember from that part of the dream is my instructor telling me how my clutch control had improved :P

Although, I Definately DO NOT Make Those Riding Hats Look Sexy!

Horse riding yesterday was awesome!!

My horse for the day was called Revel and she was absoloutly gorgeous.  Well, actually, my first reaction on setting eyes on her, was "OMG she's huge!" and then "I'm gonna need a bleedin' step ladder to get on her!" and then considering how much dignity I was going to lose by having to attempt to mount her!

Still, if my mind wasn't preoccupied by all that, I'm sure I'd proclaim the fact that Revel was a gorgeous horse.

And I suprised myself - I managed to mount her on my first attempt, dignity and all!  Controlling Revel was a piece of cake, within my first 30 minute lesson I mastered walking and got onto trotting - really impressing the instructor.  And by God is horse riding nackering!  With trotting you have to stand up and sit down in the stirups continuously - unbelievably exhausting.  Seriously, I got in back in my Mum's car, who had just picked up some fresh scones from my nanne's house, and practically ate all of them, including the plate, within a minute.

Today, I have a sore backside from the saddle that does not appreciate having to sit on a cold pew in church, this morning.  Still, said church visitation marked the mid point of my Gold DofE service - only 12 more weeks of havin to help at the Sunday School  mega yayzels!

In other news, I've just finished writing a formal letter to try and get work experience in the local magistrates court.  Gotta go address the envelope - toodles!

Elaboration is for Suckers

I had my last skiing lesson last night and so have completed my Bronze Duke of Edinbourgh Award!  Wohoo!  In my "assesors report" they actually put down that I had superb ski skills *blushes with pride*.  Kinda sad though, I'm gonna miss my weekly skiing hour.  But, onwards and upwards...

I just need to complete 3 months (12 hours, once a week) of physical to get my silver award, this time I'm gonna be going for horse riding.  Something I've always wanted to learn how to do and now seems like the perfect time to get started.  A friend recommended a (kinda) close stable, so I'm gonna give them a ring tonight to try and get a quote.  Also, I need to get my butt in gear to start a pysical for my Gold for six months, so, preferablly, something dead cheap.  But, you have to have some kind of instructor and they're not in the way of coming dead cheap.

On the Gold DofE front, our team has to have our 4 day route for our expedition completely finished, by Wednesday next week.  So far, we've been pretty organised about it and have got all the route cards done, it's just the labourious process of the tracings.  Little to say, it's busy, busy, busy at lunch time at school!

Not to mention the fact that Ive got to have my application for Bocconi sent off by the 30th March - I've got a while, but the earlier I send it off the better.  I've done my online application and I've faxed the details to take the April entrance test.  I've just got to prepare the "dossier" to send off, which includes a CV, school reports (yes, my mum suggested I should alter certain words via photoshop XD), a motivation letter, references, ICT and extra curicullar certificates.  Lot's of stuff to compile in otherwords!

I was under this strange impression that, after the exams, I would have the time to write and make videos again.  How wrong I was... I think I used to find time by not doing school work, but lately I've fallen into this bad habit of doing homework!

And the cherry on the cake is ICT coursework that will soon need to be in.

And why am I wasting time posting on LJ again?
